thegirlthatisme-deactivated2012 asked: I am a senior in highschool and I have recently been looking into becoming vegan and I love your blog. There isnt really anything that I would miss as far as animal products so i am not worried about that however, what do you do when you are invited to dinner at a restaraunt or friend/family's house? How do I stay vegan without being rude? Hopefully this isnt a dumb question, thanks xx
it’s definitely not a “dumb” question! when i am invited to a restaurant it is usually smooth sailing. restaurants almost ALWAYS offer salads which you can say “hold the egg/cheese/bacon”. you can also speak with the server at the beginning of the meal. simply tell them that you don’t eat meat, dairy or eggs and ask if they can make you something special. usually i ask for a simple pasta with veggies sauteed in olive oil.
when invited over to a friend’s house, i just remind them that i am vegan. say ” oh my gosh i would LOVE to come over for dinner friday! thank you for the invite! i just wanted to remind you, though, that i am vegan. would you prefer that i being my own food?”
i do not think stating you are vegan is rude AT ALL. it is stating that you are kind and compassionate. it may make you feel awkward now, but having confidence will show others that you are serious about your choices and that being vegan means something to you. good luck!
